It is rare in modern day Formula One for a new entrant to enter the series without buying an existing team. With the blessing of manufacturing giant Honda, Super Aguri joins Formula One for the 2006 season and is being fronted by former Zakspeed, Larrousse and Footwork racer Aguri Suzuki with Daniele Audetto taking the Managing Director position. The team will start the season with a revamped Bridgestone-shod Arrows A23 chassis purchased from former Minardi owner Paul Stoddart and adapted to the 2006 regulations. The SA05 will compete until the team’s first proper Formula One design is ready at the start of the European season. The team are currently leasing the former Arrows Formula One factory at Leafield and has signed up for BAR Honda racer Takuma Sato and former Formula Nippon racer Yuji Ide. |
